The three charities we've chosen to raise for mean so much to us, have saved my life and will make the difference to so many other people’s lives too.
St. George's hospital is where our nightmare started and without their expertise and world class surgeons I would not be here. We are raising for spinal cord monitoring equipment and a transmagnetic cranial stimulator to enable pre-operative localisation of eloquent brain - increasing tumour resection margins and reducing operative morbidity.
The ICVI is where our oncologist does all his research and trials into the new and incredible drugs that he uses. For example the immunotherapy drugs which I have been on. Had it been a few years earlier there wasn’t a drug that could control Melanoma as chemo was ineffective. It’s funding for his trials that have brought immunotherapy to the market. We are raising for a trial using IMM 101 a vaccine candidate they have developed and which is looking very good. We will also be helping them looking at the effect of Low Dose Naltrexone on the Immune response and the effects of the new cannabis derived products. The third thing we are raising for is helping fund a technician for our Professor to assist with his post doctorate.
Paul's Cancer Support centre provided me with some invaluable counselling in Jan 2016 when trying to come to terms with how our lives had changed and how quickly it had happened. They were there for me in my darkest times and I want to help ensure they are there for others too.
